Dr. John Wyatt

  • Associate Professor
  • Interim Department Head

Education

Ph.D., Engineering, Southampton Institute, United Kingdom

Research Interests

Research interests are manufacturing processes in particular machining. Also, as a spin-off from the machining research, Dr. Wyatt has become both interested and active in residual stress research and the development of new applications and technology from the original patent which was granted in 2005. In conjunction with the residual stress area. Dr. Wyatt also has an interest in the damage that these processes impart on the manufactured surface of the component with respect to its functionality. In particular, the effect of machining and other manufacturing processes on component lifecycle (i.e. metal fatigue) have an important role in the automotive, aerospace, and defense industries.
