A recent study was just accepted for publication in TechTrends. Authors of the study include Assistant Clinical Professor (Mississippi State University) Gregory M. Francom, Assistant Professor of Education (Northern State University) Dr. Anna Schwan and Graduate Research Assistant (Mississippi State University) Jeremiah Nuatomue The study compares the relatively new Google Classroom learning management system (LMS) to the more established D2L Brightspace LMS using the technology acceptance model. Students in four classes experienced either the Google Classroom LMS or the D2L Brightspace LMS. At the end of each class, they discussed their experiences and responded to survey items about the LMS. Findings indicated a general preference for the D2L Brightspace LMS for its productivity tools, and attitude toward usage and usability. Findings may help inform higher education personnel who are considering adopting the new and free Google Classroom LMS.
