What is your current job title?

            Desktop Support Specialist I

Why did you choose Mississippi State?

I have family in the Starkville/West Point area, and with all the scholarships I attained, it was the most cost efficient. I actually graduated debt free!

What was your favorite class/memory/moment while earning your degree in ITS/INDT/MST?

Dr. Wayne Yu’s awesome personality and PowerPoint games always managed to keep learning fun and exciting. After having his computer repair/maintenance class, I made it a point to take at least one of his classes each semester if possible.

What is one piece of advice you would pass on to new ITS/INDT/MST students about the programs or about college in general?

This is probably a no-brainer, but take the classes seriously and have the want to learn. It doesn’t take much effort to go through the ITS program and pass with C’s by doing the bare minimum, but by doing so, you miss out on so much. The ultimate goal of college isn’t to come out with a degree; it’s to come out with the knowledge and abilities that would make you desirable in the job market.

What advice would you give students as they enter into the workplace?

Mainly, try to prepare yourself for the workplace first. Take on internships/co-ops or find a part-time job to get your job experience and build your resume. Once you’re in the workplace, take opportunities as they come to you. Volunteer for projects that may be outside the norm of your job duties to broaden your horizon and build your reputation as a go-getter.

What are some of your hobbies/interests?

I play video games like Assassin’s Creed and watch the Arrowverse shows and anime. As far as sports go, I bowl and play tennis. I also have a unique interest in Classical Mythology and Roman history. In fact, catch me on a Wednesday, and I may be wearing socks with the design of Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus.
